Well it’s that time of year again, which means a couple of things. Family and friends and love and joy and all that good stuff. But it also means stress, dunnit? All that love must be repaid with gifts! So to make that process a little easier, Karen has put together a fun list of great gifts for foodies. And here’s part deux… my own slightly less conventional list of gifts for foodies!
1. Vinturi Wine Aerator
First things first. For me there is no such thing as cooking without a little grape juice or similarly relaxing refreshment, am I right? Now they say we need to let our wine breathe and I say my Two-Buck-Chuck doesn’t require it, but for those of you who appreciate good wine, consider the Vinturi Wine Aerator. It instantly aerates your wine getting you ready to boogie down in the kitchen in no time!
2. Kitchen Speakers
Speaking of boogying down… is it possible to cook without music? Karen and I never do it. I always get to play DJ and we always disturb her neighbors by blasting the speakers from across the next room. So I personally would consider some in-kitchen speakers a kitchen essential. Did I mention this was an unconventional foodie gift list? Anyway, this mp3 player dock is small and compact, giving you the perfect kitchen speakers to soundtrack your cooking.
3. Gourmet Sea Salt
So as this is a cooking blog and we are globetrotters, how about taking a culinary trip around the world by sampling some global flavors through the miracle that is salt! This gourmet sea salt sampler is any chef’s dream and makes an excellent and unexpected holiday gift. Which brings me to my next suggestion, the ultimate foodie luxury.
If you've ever bought it, then you can appreciate this sacred seasoning as the “gold of spices”. And if you don't cook with it but you know someone who does, they will appreciate it as the ultimate gift.
5. Fondue Maker
The holidays are about gathering and spending time together, and what better way to do so than around one of the most interactive cooking tools there is – the fondue maker! Ask anyone who knows me and they’ll tell you I love to play with my food so if you know anyone like me or just anyone who loves chocolate and/or cheese (is there anyone who doesn’t?!), this would make a really fun gift.
6. Sushi Making Kit
Another great gift that makes for really fun food (to make and to eat) is a sushi making kit. This set provides everything you need but the fish! And the included sushi cookbook will guide you through the process so you can invite Morimoto over for dinner in no time! Riiight…
7. Panini Press
Okay, so your guests are getting hungry and maybe you’ve had a little too much grape juice to really cook anymore. Why not serve up a delicious “gourmet” sandwich?! For the frat boy in all of us, let’s give thanks to the genius that is the Panini press. Always yummy. Always satisfying. Easy as cereal.
8. Creme Brulee Torch and Ramekins
Uh oh, it’s time for dessert. Yes, this is the moment the holidays were made for. And nothing says love and togetherness like a good old fashioned flamethrower. But seriously folks, creme brulee melts hearts so give the gift of yumminess with this torch and ramekins set.
9. Ice Cream Maker
Need more cream and sugar? Ice cold cream and sugar? And a more low-key dessert idea? Cutest gift ever: your very own ice cream maker. This gift will inspire many smiles. 🙂 <---See?
10. Mint Floor Cleaner
Well, the holiday feast is over, everyone’s stuffed, the night is winding down, and your heavenly kitchen, the place from which all this delight has sprung… looks like it’s been bombed. Take a load off with this automatic floor cleaner. It’s cooler than the Roomba because it uses GPS navigation to map out your entire floor so it doesn’t miss a spot. WHAT?! Yes! Warning: be careful who you give this to. For some strange reason, certain people don’t like to receive mops for Christmas – even mind-blowingly amazing robotic ones.
So there you have it! A gift list that I hope will inspire you to treat the foodies in your life to a fabulous treat they indeed deserve! Happy holidays, my dears. Be safe and have way too much fun!
